Instructions
for Setting up a PPPoE
Create a PPPoE
Connection in Windows XP
You can install
the PPPoE client just like you install any other dial-up
networking connection. To create a PPPoE client connection,
follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click Control Panel,
and then double-click Network and Internet Connections. |
2. Click Network Connections,
and then click Create a new connection
in the Network Tasks pane. |
3. After the Network Connection
Wizard starts, click Next. |
4. Click Connect to the Internet,
and then click Next. |
5. Click Set up my connection
manually, and then click Next. |

6. Click
either Connect using a broadband
connection that requires a username and
password or Connect using a broadband
connection that is always on. |
|
|
|
7. Type
the internet service provider (ISP) name
that your ISP provided, and then click
Next. (ISP name is: CTC_PPPoE) |
|
|
|
8. Type
the username that the ISP provided. (Your
Login Name) |
|
|
|
9.
Type the password that the ISP provided.
(Your Password) |
|
|
|
10.
Type the password one more time to
confirm it, and then click Next. |
|
|
|
11.
Click Add a shortcut to this
connection to my desktop. |
|
|
|
12. Click
Finish to complete the wizard. |
|
|

Create a PPPoE
Connection in Windows 7
You can install
the PPPoE client just like you install any other dial-up
networking connection. To create a PPPoE client connection,
follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click Control Panel,
and then click Network and Internet Connections for
entry next settings. |
2. Click Network and Sharing
Center |
3. Please click Set up a new
connection or network in Change your
network settings sector |
4. During this time a pop-up window
will be shown and click Connect to the
Internet then click Next button |
5. Someone may be using Broadband
router to share Internet connection for many
computers, so they can connect to the
Internet. If you can connect to Internet
right now, please click Set up a new
connection anyway |

6. Click
either Connect using a broadband
connection that requires a username and
password or Connect using a broadband
connection that is always on. |
|
|
|
7. Please
click Broadband (PPPoE) |
|
|
|
8. Type
the username that the ISP provided. (Your
Login Name) |
|
|
|
9.
Type the password that the ISP provided.
(Your Password) |
|
|
|
10.
Fill out all Information &
Click Connect. |
|
|
|
11.
If your connection has been established,
then you will be able to see this
well-established connection through the
bottom right corner click on the Network
Internet Access icon. |

|
12.
Sometimes you want to modify this connection
profile, please click
Change adapter settings after
select Control Panel --> Network
and Internet --> Network and Sharing
Center |

Here you can see the Broadband
Connection profile. |
Create a PPPoE
Connection in Vista
You can install
the PPPoE client just like you install any other dial-up
networking connection. To create a PPPoE client connection,
follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click Control Panel,
and then click Network and Internet Connections icon. |
2. Click Network and Sharing
Center icon. |
3. Please click Set up a
connection or network in on the left
task pane. |
4. During this time a new window will
pop-up asking you to choose the connection
option. Click Connect to the Internet
then click Next |
5. click Set up a new connection
anyway |

Please click Broadband (PPPoE) |
|
|
|
8. Type
the username that the ISP provided. (Your
Login Name) |
|
|
|
9.
Type the password that the ISP provided.
(Your Password) |
|
|
|
10.
Fill out all Information &
Click Connect. |
|
|
|
11.
If you see a window pop up that says
You are connected to the Internet then
you have successfully established a
connection. |
Create a PPPoE
Connection in Mac OS X 10.5
1. Start by going to System Preferences by
either selecting it from gears icon in the top menu bar or
open it from the Dock. |
2. Click Network icon to
continue |
3. You will automatically be directed
to the highest priority connection which by
default is Built-in Ethernet. This is
okay as this is where we need to be. |
4. Click on the Configure menu
to reveal the options for Built-in Ethernet
connections. |
5. From here choose the Create
PPPoE Service option. You will be
prompted to name the connection. |

6. For
the service name put CTC_PPPoE |
|
|
|
7. Once
you name the connection you will be
presented with the setup screen for the
PPPoE connection. |
|
|
|
8. Type
the username that the ISP provided. (Your
Login Name) |
|
|
|
9.
Type the password that the ISP provided.
(Your Password) |
|
|
|
10.
By clicking Show PPPoE status in menu
bar a small object will appear in your
top menu bar. This will allow you to control
the connection from your desktop. |
|
|
|
11.
Click Apply Now. When you click on
Connect, you computer will attempt to
connect using PPPoE. |
|
|
|
12.
Notice the new icon in the top right of your
screen? This new icon will allow you to
activate this PPPoE connection. Once
connected to the |
|
|
|

Here you can see the Broadband
Connection profile. |
|
